automotive service manager training module series
Inherited and continued development of an 18-part e-learning series for Dealer Parts and Service Manager (DPSM) department — creating training modules from the ground up to establish best practices and standardized learning for service and parts managers across dealerships.
Problem
No formal training existed for DPSM service and parts managers — an 18-part module series needed to be built and deployed from scratch
audience
2,500+ service and parts managers across company’s dealerships
my role
Inherited project mid-development, continued and completed module builds, managed full SME review and HLC deployment process"
tools
storyline 360, articulate review360, scorm, sharepoint
Process (development)
1
inherit & Orient
Received the project after a team transition. Reviewed existing modules, aligned with SMEs on scope, and established a consistent build standard for the remaining modules.
2
Develop Module
Built each module in Articulate Storyline 360 following established content structure — incorporating interactions, best practice scenarios, and knowledge checks for service and parts managers.
3
SME Review
Shared each module via Review 360 link to SMEs. Allowed 5 days for feedback, sent a reminder on day 4, and followed up via Teams for any clarification needed before incorporating changes.
4
SCORM & Packaging
Converted finalized Storyline file to SCORM, completed the custom training deployment request form, and uploaded the compressed SCORM file, request form, source file, and custom image to the shared SharePoint folder.
5
Deployment
Coordinated with the LMS team to review the request form, align on publishing timelines, conduct accuracy testing, incorporate any final changes, and confirm successful module publication.
deployment workflow
01
Share Review360 link with SMEs. Allow 5 business days for feedback
02
Send reminder email to SMEs on day 4 of the review window
03
Reach out via Microsoft Teams for any clarifications on SME feedback
04
Incorporate all SME-approved changes into the Storyline file
05
Convert finalized Storyline file to SCORM format
06
Complete the custom training deployment request form for each module
07
Create a folder in the shared SharePoint — upload compressed SCORM file, request form, Storyline source file, and custom thumbnail image
08
Schedule a meeting with the Honda Learning Center (HLC) team to review the request form and align on publishing timeline
09
After the meeting, email the shared SharePoint link to the HLC team. List all modules included and CC necessary stakeholders
10
Receive course ID and class ID from HLC. Verify module title and content accuracy in HLC products
11
If changes are required, incorporate them and notify HLC to upload the updated compressed SCORM folder
12
HLC confirms receipt of the new folder. Conduct a second round of accuracy testing
13
Once testing is finalized, confirm approval with the HLC team. CC all necessary stakeholders
14
Upon HLC confirmation of successful publication, send deployment confirmation email to all relevant parties
